I bought this forever ago in physical for PS4 and started playing it recently. I asked on the discord who had been shilling it. I'm up to the second arena fight in the tournament right now.

I'd say it's ok so far but good grief so many of the characters are insufferable. Haseo is awful, Gaspard is awful, Silabus was whatever so that trio just sucks. Piros showed up and I never used or contacted him as he was instantly annoying. Atolie is ok. Pi and Kuhn are whatever. But it's mainly Haseo being terrible that bothers me the most (plus Gaspard but at least I can ignore him)

Almost all of that is true at this point I think, lol, but it all comes together really well. The story gets pretty intense.

Though not as extreme, there's definitely a Luke Fon Fabre aspect to Haseo, and he eventually becomes one of my favorite protags.

Can't help you with Piros III though, the man is a legend.

I had decent memories of the hack infection series and would absolutely replay that if I could (my copies are incompatible with my PS2 since I emigrated). I remember the characters being more likable and the gameplay being better but it is very possible that is strong nostalgia goggles and from playing that as a late teen rather than someone in their mid 30s.

I would say that's very likely, yes.

The Infection series is....very difficult to go back to.
