I just started watching since I started playing recently.

Sorta disappointed by the coverage. They don't regularly show things like distances, which clubs they use, ball path, etc or any other details really.

They just show an overall score on the bottom right and after each hole they may show that players scorecard.

Like how can you tell if they used a 8 iron or 9 iron? How can you tell if they hit it 140 yards or 150 yards?

Plus professional golfers are hitting wedges like 175 yards so its pretty much useless information.

You watch to see the type of shot they play and how well they can execute it.

Watch the flight path of the ball. The trajectory of the shot is directly related to the angle of the face of the club used.

I know that.

U guys are telling me basic obvious stuff.

How do I know which club they are using when they don't always say it before hand...before the shot?

Hes kidding.

If you see someone hitting a bump and run around the green odds are it was an 8 iron.

It doesnt matter. Also they probably dont know since that would be between the caddy and player. Plus depending on wind, precipitation, and how much the greens/fairway have dried out it can cause the club choice to change.

Theyll probably be more likely to mention it on the second, third or fourth days of a tournament if the player is hitting from the same spot as the day before. Not on a Thursday first round.

Okay first u guys are telling me u can just tell, next u guys are telling me it's impossible to tell because it's between the caddie and the golfer....

Do you guys see where I'm just like wtf..as a noob golfer I'm just curious what clubs they're using because I just wanna know their ability with each club. Also curious which balls they're using.

It would be the baseball equivalent of knowing which pitch they are throwing...yea we don't know cuz it's between the catcher and pitcher but after that we know cuz either you recognize it or the announcer immediately calls it.

Bro. Other than the number written on the bottom of the club the announcer would have to stop and ask them what club they hit. Or make an assumption from the angle of the shot.

Information theyd be happy to share at the post round press conference not during the round. I strongly suggest you table your question until youve compared what youre seeing to Saturdays round where they have half the players to cover and theyre all better/more reliable.
