I have been thinking about this and I am thinking even though Urizen got knocked over easily, trading Urizen for Vergil in DMC5 was a bad deal.

Reason 1: Commitment to being blue.
-Vergil was a guy in a blue coat who traded his blue coat for a black coat and nobody even acknowledged it.
-Urizen is a fully realised blue guy.

Reason 2: Ability to not get absolutely pulverised immediately.
-If you hit Vergil, he might hold up his sword to guard. If you keep hitting him you'll quickly break his guard and can beat him up. Vergil appears right at the end of the story and almost immediately loses twice.
-If you try the same strat on Urizen you'll have to exert more effort. His big orange Yamato crystal takes way more hits. Urizen appears in the prologue, successfully fends off Dante and Nero and makes it all the way to the end of mission 17.

Reason 3: Motive.
-Vergil is a guy who sure talks about motivation a lot but really all he wants to do is start the same unwinnable fight with Dante. He gets beat up by a guy who gets a new hand by crying who also cries while riding in a van afterwards.
-Urizen is motivated because he has a plan. Imitate Mundus. Make a big tree, feed it blood, use some of the blood to empower himself and guard the tree while it makes the fruit, get the fruit, become really strong. Didn't work but at least he had a theory and saw it through.

Reason 4: Vergil is part V and Urizen is not.
-Vergil is part V. He acts like V which means he pretends to hold instruments and he is an emo.
-Urizen is not part V. He is the exact opposite. He sits in a chair and tells people to scatter.

Reason 5: Confidence.
-Vergil exudes no faith in himself. Gone is the self-assured, highly strung Vergil of the past, replaced with the fear-ridden, "Of your existence? Or your strength?" Vergil of today.
-Urizen will have his Yamato shield crystal broken, lose 90% of his health and still have the gall to go "WHAT A FUTILE ATTEMPT." and re-use the exact same Yamato shield crystal.

Reason 6: Moveset
-Vergil has the DMC5 Vergil moveset. You plod to the side and press jump to avoid everything he can do. Judgement Cut End is a single hit or rather a single easy dodge. I noticed they renamed the Summoned Swords to Mirage Blades in this one, so maybe Vergil literally decided he'd have better luck if he swapped out one of his good moves for a much worse version. This guy summons a clone to double his attack rate and the fight still somehow feels like it's in slow motion.
-Urizen has a whole clusterfuck of colorful moves. He's got the Goliath fireball, the Artemis vertical projectiles/laser beam, Geryon's time slow, vines that chase you, exploding ground things, kicks, jump kicks, punches, summoned swords and more. It doesn't work but again at least he changed it up as it went on.

Reason 7: Music.
-Vergil has to share The Duel with Dante. Silver Bullet is Nero's theme. Bury the Light belongs to the non-canon playable character version, not the real Vergil.
-Urizen gets his own songs. I don't really care about them. He still gets them all to himself.

Reason 8: Feats of athleticism.
-Vergil can teleport back and forth. Instead of jumping he uses Trick Up to teleport in the air. Meh.
-Urizen can do a nice backflip in his 3rd fight. He can also do a cool looking jump kick later in that same fight. Neat.

There's more but those are the important real ones.
I don't see why they give player character Vergil a move where he summons V to dance around but not one where he turns Urizen loose.
