Bioshock infinite, fear 3, resistance 3. All that came out a decade ago. Aside from cod after cod and some indie fps games nothing creative has been done like timesplitters, cthulu, bioshock, system shock. Last one I can think of is singularity its all multiplater focused and generally terrible tbqh. Fps campaigns are some of the best, had so much promise in the 90s and fell apart.

Not 100% sure it counts for you, as its technically a remake, but if you want a good single player focused FPS, have you tried Black Mesa?

Fan Made, Valve Sponspored, Remake of the first Half Life game.

People have been generally positive towards Titanfall 2, the Doom games, and maybe the latest Metro stuff.
In any case, Agent 64 is on the horizon.

Call of Duty and Half Life kind of fucked up the campaign focused FPS genre. FPS went from Doom Clones, then Goldeneye and Half Life turned the genre on its head and now were at a strange place. The way I can best describe modern shooters is like a roller coaster or walking theme park ride. Its all linear progression while events happen around you.

Shooters went from:
Shoot from one end of the level, get the key and shoot to the other end.
To:
Complete the objectives in this area and find the exit.
To:
Start on this point and walk to the end of the area.
