He starts with $0.93 and has a yearly interest rate of 2.5% compounding over 1,000 years.

The show says it comes to $4.3 billion.

That sounds insane, but 1,000 is a lot of years, so it could be accurate. I'm too lazy to figure out how to do math (or to do a Bing search). Does anybody know?

Ken Keeler, one of the writers on the show, has a PhD in mathematics. So the math in the show will always be accurate.

Edit: He also had to make up a proof to have the body switch episode make mathematical sense.

Idk. Godzilla Singular Point was written by a physist and 90% of the dialogue was him just jerking himself off.

The tomboy was waifu material, though that was irrelevant to the science

It's very much correct.

@DrPrimemaster already posted the exact calculation, which is A = Pe^rt.

If the show was actually realistic they would've said the bank charged him a $7 fee for having a low balance and then charged him a daily fee of $20 for having a negative balance for 1000 years and now he owes like $7.3 million

That scene just always make me wonder two things: how much $4.3 billion would even be worth in the year 3,000, and how many people could exploit that because a lot of people from 2,000 were frozen in the show.

Actually, they used the normal compound interest formula: A = P(1 + r/n)^(nt)

Yours is for continuous compound interest.

the money that was used seemed to have as much worth as in the modern day.

like, in the one episode where Fry was able to buy a cup of coffee for three dollars (and drank about 100)

If that 93 cent say, buys him a small bottle of milk in 2000. 4.3 billion 1000 years in the future should still only buy him the same bottle milk.

Probably around 93 cents, since the average rate of inflation is pretty close to that.

Think about it. Everyone else has parents that look just like them. SpongeBob has Sponge parents, Patrick has starfish parents, even Squidward has a squid mother. Mr Krabs had crab parents; all of these characters have had their parents on the show, except for Pearl.

She always asks Krabs for money. She always calls him "Daddy" and not dad. All the signs are there.

There are a lot of incredibly smart people who did that show. Listening to the commentary tracks on the episodes was great.
