Theres a fuckton of CPU/GPU combinations and theyre all just a bunch of numbers and youd think bigger number means stronger laptop but nooo computer parts make no fucking sense and sometimes the smaller numbered item is stronger than the bigger numbered item

I just wanna game in flawless 1080p with a minimum 60fps wherever I want without the laptop burning my legs and the fans sounding like an old dusty PS4

When you're looking at the same brand bigger numbers are always better though?

that hasn't not been the case in like a decade

Like NVIDIA for example, reading stuff online Id think a 3050 would be great but apparently some 10xx and 20xxs are better?

But the 30s are the current gen

Thinking a 3060 is what Ill end up going with but the CPU is what Im mostly hung up on

The CPU is not going to matter nearly as much as the GPU for what you're after. You should be fine with any recent-gen i5 / Ryzen 5 or up.

Oh shit yeah that makes sense and you're right, I've been buying the high end parts for so long I kinda forgot about those <_<

For gaming I wouldn't recommend anything lower than a x060 for Nvidia though

You really aren't going to find a laptop that isn't going to burn your legs if your playing like that. Laptops generally have their fans located on the bottom, so your blocking the flow of air, which causes it to heat up faster than it should.

So until manufacturers find a way to completely eliminate moving fans, just use a table or night stand and put some space between your laptops fans and the surface. Sometimes a laptop cooling pad helps.

Yeah, it can be confusing when you don't know the difference between Intel, AMD and Nvidia. The larger number generally is better, but each of the companies use separate naming conventions. So it won't line up like that between the 3 companies.

But if you're just looking for 1080p gaming, that's pretty easy to hit. For the GPU, you can get by with like a 3060 (Nvidia) or 6600 (AMD). The cpus they pair with those will vary, but most should be good for 1080p.

Just get a Steam Deck for when you don't have access to an actual PC. I mean unless you're homeless you should have a TV or something to hook up a tower

Just get the best Asus you can find, for your budget. There are so many different systems and spects. Asus is the best brand. My Asus messed up because I use it for EVERYTHING 20 hours a day. I have tried other brands and there are never as good.

Probably better to get a laptop cooler with it. Hard to avoid this for gaming laptops. There's a lot crammed in there.

Yeah the leg burning thing was a bit of an exaggeration, I'd definitely be using a cooling pad if it's actually on my lap. The keyboard getting hot is a concern though.

Also just found this on Amazon, seems like a good deal:

I've been very happy with my Legion 5 Pro. Unlike most gaming laptops it doesn't feel incredibly cheap. It shares a lot of DNA with Thinkpads.

Yea the laptop I am on is from 2015 I don't remember exactly it has a real Nvidia card in it and it did run some things better than my old ass PC but there comes to a point where yea I don't like want a pos laptop but gaming laptop seems so oddly specific and buying a tower would be easier to maintain or upgrade....

I am talking out my league though.

If this is anything like the one I have you might want to invest in an external monitor. Mine has a bit of a yellow tint to it.

I mean, yeah, pretty well this. Dollar to Dollar, a 1000$ gaming desktop will usually beat a 1000$ gaming laptop. With the bonus of being able to upgrade the desktop.
