I'm Adv level 17 and I just got the harp back at the start

I've put all my pulls so far into the Yelan banner but no luck so far

Stop and play something good instead.

Its fun but its the most money I ever spent on 1 game. I need to stop

Remember to do reputation, like bounties, requests. My gf leveled my acc to 16 and then started her own so we could Co op everything. I just hit AR40 and just Learned about it and she was like oh yeah.

There's some real useful items there

Elemental Sight will reveal a ton of things that you might miss in normal gameplay. Also, using Elemental Sight on a seelie pillar will show you the direction its lost seelie is located.

Yelan is a great character, so keep trying, you may get lucky. Starting out, though, any 5* will be an improvement, and pity will cary over to the banner.

Is it worth exploring other areas before I get there in the story?

I made it to like the... China inspired swamp area even though the story is still in Mondstadt. Should I wait until the story heads there to explore because doing things there will get me overleveled or is it alright for me to go ahead and go there?

There's nothing really stopping you from exploring the other regions earlier then your in the story quest besides inazuma and some of the sub areas later on so your fine to just do your own thing. Most of the time the story quest don't take you that deep into the really explorable areas anyways.
