My car got hit yesterday and the guy gave me his info. The estimate is about $300 for a replacement though labor is like 2/3 of the cost. Is it worth reporting or should I just pay a smaller garage to fix it? I don't want my insurance going up.

Waaaay cheaper to just do it yourself. I didn't think I could do it but as suggested by @Bryfang , Youtube is great for this kind of thing.

I wouldnt go through insurance for that in case they raise your premium

you could do the mirror yourself, I did on my old car and it was kind of a pain but still manageable even though I had no idea what I was doing. The part itself was like $220 from the dealer tho

I have a friend that works on cars. I'll see if he can look at it for me before I make a claim. I'd much rather just have him pay for the part and my friend's work than get insurance involved.

Why would your insurance go up? You said the guy gave you his info, go through his insurance and they pay for the damages
