The whole idea behind buying a console early is because you know it will be a performance upgrade over the old console and that it will be supported with new games for years to come. When I bought my PS4, there were only 2 games I wanted for it. By the time I replaced it, I had over 50 games on it, plus lots of PS plus games. Makes sense in the long term.

I bought one on a whim last weekend and Ive come to the conclusion that it was completely pointless.

I got a used 3060 ti for the same price so that doesn't really matter (if it's even true. I'm not gonna bother looking it up)
Btw if you already have a PC, which you probably did if you're here, then upgrading it to be way better than a PS5 for about as much as a PS5 costs is a good bet. My 3060ti + Ryzen 5 5600 + 32GB RAM and mobo was only $600 and it's all I needed to get my computer up to date. It absolutely smokes a PS5 for only a little more, and I of course don't have to pay to play online so it's actually probably cheaper after a couple years.

The system I had prior to that was only upgraded slightly over the PS3-PS4 gen and the overall cost was about on-par with the cost of one console from each of those gens. Gaming PCs really aren't very expensive
