Is it about the dude from Rogue One? Ive heard everyone say its a good show but I cant get myself to care enough to watch it with how bland his character was in that movie

You should probably watch the original trilogy (or A New Hope at least) to get a sense for who the antagonists are.

I feel they did a really great job with making vader an absolute badass, without having him be an acrobat like most other Jedi/sith.

That one scene where he's just carving his way through rebel soldiers like an unstoppable killing machine set to to walk not run was glorious.

Definitely not! If you're going to watch them for the first time, then release order is the best way.

Kinda. It's more about living life under an Empire rule and how characters deal with that.

I sometimes feel like Andor exists primarily to show people just how hollow and thoughtless the 'no one asked for this' criticism is.

...I mean, no one who uses that line will actually learn their lesson, but at least we got a damn-good Star Wars series out of it.

I wouldn't recommend it. As a previous poster said, the original Star Wars movie (Episode 4: A New Hope) is pretty much mandatory prior viewing to get a baseline for the worldbuilding (Andor is a prequel set a year or two before ANH). The franchise is essentially a fantasy story with space-magic and laser-sword knights, and the Galactic Empire is the mustache-twirling force of evil; on the other hand, one of Andor's core themes is to present a more grounded and realistic view of how the common folk live their lives under the thumb of the Empire. So apart from familiarizing yourself with the universe, it's also better to first experience the hero's fantastical journey in ANH, so that you can better appreciate how bleak and oppressive life is for the people who can't use space-magic to fix their problems in Andor.

It's definitely a slow-burning show. I liked the buildup to the heist, and the heist itself in ep 6 was great payoff. There's a 3-ep arc (eps 8-10) that is routinely hailed as the highlight of the show; which again is slow build with excellent payoff. The season finale wasn't perfect, but honest to god I can't remember the last time a show did such a masterful job of building tension.

EDIT actually I can remember the last time a show gripped me with tension that well: the Game of Thrones s6 finale, aka that episode that came out of nowhere to singlehandedly revitalize my interest in the show.

I appreciate what it tried to do, but it missed the mark for me. I found it incredibly dull.

I do hope they continue to tell stories that dont involve Force users, though.

I quit after episode 3, cause it was so damn boring, and only came back when I had nothing to watch, and it seemed like it picked up immediately after that point
