Who is Cloud paying attention to instead? Samus? BJ isn't getting through this terrain in 5 minutes. She's dead by the time BJ gets there. K. Rool? Okay, then that means BJ's going to have to fight Lu Bu instead, and Lu Bu with Vivi's support easily beats BJ.

She only has 5 minutes until she dies. Even if she sniffs it out in 2 minutes, that's still 2 minutes of Liquid leading her down the wrong path to get to them. So instead of having to clear the terrain in 5 minutes, she has to clear the terrain in 3 minutes. Every minute matters, and every minute she's listening to Liquid is wasted, even if she does eventually figure it out.

Mercs magic says that she initially believes it to be true. Only thing that's up for interpretation is how long it takes for her to stop believing it.

I think she sussss it out pretty good.

This is also assuming the path between the two points is pretty labyrinthine.

The walk from the heleport through the canyon is very straightforward.

Even if she gets diverted to nuclear storage for a moment and even if literally team rex just camps there (which is out of character for all of them except Liquid, who in his terrified case probably would prefer they just leave him,) its a prerty straight shot through the underground tunnel as my map of the terrain shows.

When youre not trying to hide from soldiers it doesnt take THAT long to navigate and thats assuming Samus and them dont see them once theyre in the kanyon and just go around (Zenos BJ has teleportarion and Samus can fly and probably even take K Rool with her.)

If you look at the video I posted, you'll also see that there's a ton of elevators here. Elevators that Samus has to take to get to my team. Samus isn't going to magically make those go faster. Even with her speed boosts, she's still limited by elevator speed. There's nearly a minute long elevator ride around the 9:30 mark. So knock another minute off of her short life.

She will be generally be none the wiser of the deception, and will genuinely believe she is being given helpful advice from a reliable source, although she still won't do anything obviously incorrect, nonsensical, or out of character just because Liquid says so.

So it's not literally Adam. Its a mentor she considers helpful/reliable.

Liquid just has to make her make a couple of wrong turns and the speed run fails. It doesn't have to be anything obviously incorrect or nonsensical, Shadow Moses is big.

It is but her besr Aieon abilities are from Returns where she can either activaye lightning armor to be invulnerable and doing longer range counters or use ice and counter which basically kills things dead.

If she comes in she is basically just gonna counter cloud counter lu bu blast a blackhole bomb at their asses and watch them die.

I assume Samus dying is part of their battle plan and I think if this fight runs 100 times, Samus dies from timing out before even meeting them in like 40 minimum

and if she does meet them it takes her the rest of her time to beat liquid alone

I think I buy Samus being temporarily distracted by Liquid enough to lose a minute or two. I also think if she waits for BJ and K Rool she's gonna die before she gets a hit in, so she would run (or roll, or spin jump) ahead. Unfortunately that puts her into a 1v4 that's... not great for her. Cloud with Vivi's sword magic is a real threat to her even without counting METAL GEAR's offensive abilities or Lu Bu. And they don't actually have to kill her, just stall, which is their entire plan to win and something they're hyperfocused on.

I'm a really big fan of BJ Viator Galvus in this situation, mostly because I think the in-fight banter when he sees Cloud, his very own Warrior of Light, would be phenomenal. But I think this fight is very slanted by Samus' timer. Vivi on a big map like this with Liquid's antics to buy time is a really powerful combo.

Liquid Snake is empowered to misdirect Samus just long enough for that 5 minute timer to run out. Some people want to say she couldn't be tricked because of this or that, but the bolded lettering of the rule says that she will be none the wiser. If that's the rule, I'm going to work on the assumption that he keeps her at bay at least long enough to run down that rather short clock. If she didn't have the timer hanging over her, I think she wins. With the backup she brings I don't think the other side could stop her. However, once she keels over and it becomes a 2v4, BJ and the Croc don't have enough to overcome the sheer numbers.

Samus reaches the other team in time for Liquid to gloat his victory over her as she foxdies.
