My last build was fairly solid, but the PSU shit the bed and i decided it's time to throw together a new budget-ish build anyway.

i think this link works
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/kcwalina/saved/NVLPf7

any glaring issues being brought to light would be appreciated. as i'm currently computerless, i'm sort of rushing it.

Looks fine to me. The only thing is that your case only comes with 2 fans. So you might want to buy a few extra

You could get a laptop with a 3070 for that range, or one with a 3060 for like 1000 bucks if you just want something immediately

Otherwise are you planning on upgrading it later?

i put a light amount of research into the case and CPU cooler tbh. i also need to make sure all the dimensions jive together. i'll double check the fan situation. there'sa lot of sweet lookin cases so if i gotta buy extra fans anyway i might look at something like this just cuz it looks sweet

i'm not super interested in a gaming laptop, but it's something i could consider.

everything i see about the 3070 is that it performs a little less well than the 6800 (besides ray tracing which is barely a thing at this point) and is much less expensive. so in terms of upgrading i kinda just had the idea that in 3-4 years i'll have the freedom to upgrade gpu without much sunk cost if the market is in a good spot.

i guess it's also worth mentioning i have a 1440p 144hz monitor already so that's what i'll be gaming on, and the 6800 performs well at that level.

I'm planning on picking up the O11 Dynamic Evo today. Looks like a great case for cable management and aesthetics, and I'm gonna buy a shitload of fans for it

oh hell yeah. how many fans do you plan on getting? i've never really had a super "aesthetic" case so i'm quite intrigued on going that route as long as like you said, cable management and airflow and dimensions all are robust

I'm planning on going with 10 total. 3 intake on bottom, 3 intake on side mounted radiator, 3 exhaust on the top and the 1 rear exhaust.

Gonna get pricey but with the components I'm going with I need all the airflow I can get

That makes sense considering you said you were in a hurry to get a new PC. But yeah, Lian Li O11 is really popular. It can support a ton of fans and has a really clean look to it.

Although I've never used the case personally, so I can't give good advice on how to arrange your intake and exhaust fans.

And I don't know much about deepcool's fans, but a few of their coolers have been praised by reputable sites like gamers nexus. So that one doesn't seem like a bad choice.

budget-ish build
I would have assumed this was an "all out" build if you're going for a nearly $300 motherboard

Could save almost $200 and just get a b660

love it. i'll probably copy you more or less. i might spring for the 140mms to balance out noise but it probably doesn't matter

yeah now that i'm looking more, i think i might end up going with that and deck it out with fans. this is why i'm glad i chose to run this list by people/CE lol

he deepcool fans honestly look like some random knockoff but i keep seeing buzz about it so i figure it must be good enough.

right this is kind of pricey, i guess "budget" isnt the correct term. i'm just trying to find that sweet spot in value and solid performance that'll last a few years cranking max settings

Do you plan to overclock? If not, you don't need a K CPU.
If this is budget, there are cheaper options for mobo, RAM, and SSD. Something like this:

Yeah, I'd agree with this. If you're not using parts with insane power draws and heat generation, you definitely don't need to fill every fan slot.

i went off the damn deep end. i found some microcenter deals that were too good to pass up, so i just upped this into a full fledged upper mid range build. ryzen 7900x and 6950xt. whatever.

Nice. Nothing wrong with splurging a bit if you have the money. My build was nearly top of the line in 2020. I figure it will last longer that way.

Mainly just changes who you get customer support from. From what I know AMD's partner cards are still made by AMD.

At some point, I need to upgrade most of the parts of my PC because it's about 9 years old. I just don't feel like doing it. The only things I've had to replace in 9 years are a power supply and an SSD.

yeah i just went back into my newegg orders and i bought this PSU in 2008 lol. definitely got the most out of it.

its been 8 years since i built my last pc, i would say 9 warrants some splurging on yourself

making the purchase shortly. considering changing out the case though, after taxes the evo price skyrockets, and having to buy all the fans separately on top of that is kind of brutal. plus i don't think i really need all the customization it offers

looking at corsair 4000x or nzxt h5 elite

if you're looking to mess around with AI or need hardware transcoding, I'd get an nvidia gpu over amd. But amd is your best budget if you're just gaming.
