Who are we in the pocket of

My SO and I have had an ongoing argumentent for years now about toothpaste and who we are being mislead by.

My SO uses barely any toothpaste when she brushes her teeth. Maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of pea sized. She says her dentist always tells her thats the correct amount to use, and any more is just falling for propaganda from giant toothpaste companies who want you to use your product faster and buy more. She is fully bought into this conspiracy.

I use considerably more. I lay a full strip of paste across all the bristles of my brush. I say that we mightbe being mislead by big toothpaste (I think the same thing happens with stuff like laundry detergent) but its even more likely shes being mislead by her dentist! He directly benefits from people using too little toothpaste, as people need more work done on their teeth. I argue she should use more toothpaste and stop believing bias sources of info.

For context, she has needed more dental work done than I have, which I think helps my case. However, she also eats way more sweets that I do + grinds her teeth.

Who are we in the pocket of, CE? Big toothpaste, or Big dentistry?
