I think it was disrespectful to the victims of slavery to write a fictional scenario in which it never happened. It's like having Mario rescue Emit Till or making Anne Frank's daughter the commander in a Mass Effect game.

History happened. We have a responsibility to acknowledge the ugliness of history and to prevent similar scenarios from ever happening again; not to retreat into fantasy worlds where we can smile and pretend it never happened.

I can understand fiction which creates fictional scenarios in which a victim turned on their oppression and triumphed. To wholesale say it didn't happen is disrespectful.

I think in real life, how victims of atrocities are remembered should be treated with respect, but there's nothing wrong with speculative fiction, where imagining a world where those atrocities didn't take place/were undone.

"Woke" is basically acceptance to a draconian degree, and jumping on anything to feign support, when in actuality they just do it for themselves. Harass and shame people for not tolerating your views, but you won't do the same for theirs. It's full of bitter, angry people who are disguising their own hate and misery under the guise of caring about others. (See: doing the absolute bare minimum for the causes they support online, but offline where it actually matters they won't make a sound)

Note that this is NOT the general principles of the left. Whereas the left means well and are reasonable like the general principles of the right, the woke left is basically the equivalent of the far right: extreme ideologies of their sides to the point of intolerance. To that end, they are some of the most hateful, intolerant people on the planet who don't care about the people they claim to help; they just wait until the next thing they're told to be mad about to point all their frustrations at.
Hence why none of them do anything outside of self-important online posting to help those causes. They can't hate by volunteering to help refugees; they can't hate by donating to charities; they can't hate by buying food for the less fortunate. Of course not, because it's really all about them being able to vent their awful lives while seeming righteous by doing so.

Look at Hogwarts Legacy. Not a single one did any meaningful thing to even halt sales. They just jumped on it 'cause they were told to, it let them hate something, claim to be trans supporters, and then ditch it in a few days.

Honestly, a lot of (white) liberals don't know what it really means either. They haven't appropriated and weaponized it like the Right has but still. So pay attention and I'll tell you the tale of "Woke."

So originally, "woke" was a term used by black people (predominantly) to mean they were aware of the actual systemic injustices that continue to plague the African-American community, how that affects us generationally, as well as how that relates to white supremacy. They were "awake" while the rest of us slept (i.e. continued to listen to profane music, be attracted to European beauty standards, sell drugs to our communities, kill each other, etc which only furthers the agenda of our "oppressors.") We typically refer to these people as "Hoteps," which is a word that became more derogatory in nature as these types started sounding more sanctimonious than righteous and began morphing into a more sexist/misogynistic rhetoric to coincide with their "black power" ideas.

Like most things black Americans come up with, the term was noticed by white folks a few decades after we were using it. And, of course, they act like they discovered something brand new and decide to appropriate it and run it into the ground. White liberals use it to mean being aware of social injustices and systemic racism and how that affects minorities/marginalized groups today (NOTE: Not just black people as was the original usage.) They wore it like a badge of honor/patting themselves on the back. This, of course, pissed of Conservative (see: racist) White people because if there's one thing they hate more than black people taking about racism, it's other white people doing so. That's when they decided to appropriate it from the Liberal White people and use it as a derogatory catch-all phrase they can use to demean any talk of social justice. Sadly, it actually doesn't even need to be true social justice. Casting characters that are LGBTQ, women and/or race swapping is also called "woke."

And THAT, my friend, is the true story of "Woke." You're welcome.
