I literally posted todays tuition rates for the schools i went to.

The schools I went to would costs around $60k for all 4 years.

If there's no profit to be made then why would they or anyone for that matter agree to this? Actually, due to inflation if anything they're be losing money.

Honestly if they want they're tuition paid for that bad then join the army.

$60k in debt would be $500 a month over a 10 year period and that's not factoring in crazy interest rates. Even in your save money scenario, that's still a lot of debt.

Thats assuming you go into Freshman year with ZERO money up front, get zero outside help, and are putting no money towards schools while youre attending.

I worked fulltime throughout most of my undergrad and certainly didn't have enough money to start paying into my loans. You are effectively barring poor people from higher education.

Im not saying the current system is good, and shouldnt be completely overhauled. At all. I would 100% support free college for anyone that qualifies for it.

But in the current system. College on a budget is wholly obtainable.

BTW, I also worked 30+ hours a week during all 4 of my undergraduate years and knew there was zero chance Id ever get out of college debt free if I didnt go to two year of community college followed by two years at the local State school. So I opted for 2 years of community college and two years of state college. Because it was all I could afford.

Once you graduate, an accounting degree is the same no matter how much you paid for it.

Republicans just want to punish people who went to college, since generally speaking, those people tend not to vote Republican anyway.

I went to a state school, with in state tuition, and a full ride for my last two years. There was no way any of my income was going towards my loans because all of that money accounted for other expenses.

There's a very simple solution to this: make student debt dischargeable through bankruptcy like it was for the baby boomers.

Because higher education is the only reliable route to upward social mobility, and making that route prohibitively expensive so to either block it from the poor or make it disproportionately hard to work only serves to exacerbate class inequality in the US. This is one small step towards righting these wrongs.

What I do know is that there are A LOT of jobs out there where a requirement is simple to have that 4 year degree. Doesn't even matter what your major was. Especially a lot of sales and QA jobs. The group of QA reps that my wife works with all have degrees, and they're all had different majors.
