it's incredible how good the translation was, considering this was essentially a communist Estonian's novel about a train wreck of a human being trying to change. shit's downright poignant

yeah, we are never gonna see a faithful succecssor in-universe. really sad since the whole universe was a mind-project the writer had been fantasizing about and developing since he was a kid

I was enjoying myself greatly until I soft locked myself with bad/uninformed stat decisions and pretty much failed every check I had available to me. Haven't picked up the game again but I should.

i think there's only one true way to softlock yourself in the game (a lategame shivers check), there's usually a way to get around bad rolls

but it does require a lot more discovery and exploration

I actually just beat it last month. It's one that sticks with you for a while.

I started the game before my life change. Ill have to wait until I own a PlayStation again before I can get back to it

Yeah, you're right. I had the option to change my accept a viewpoint I think which I didn't want to take, but I did spend a loong time exploring other areas only to fail those checks too :) ultimately i did just quit the game instead of making that choice mainly out of frustration.

tbh at that point i'd be a dirty little cheater and just use cheat engine to force a reroll on that check, but i guess that's a pretty lame option for others

yeah I should have save scummed but the game just came out and I was trying to play it straight. now I know to never do that again lool

You can also softlock yourself by not having enough money by the end of day 2.

while possible, i don't think it's a realistic concern considering you can pawn most things on you, including quest items
