Damn, why do all their names start with an L?

I think a big piece of that is they give them disproportionately strong Pokmon for the point you fight them. Like Miltank is likely to be faster and bulkier than anything you have at that point.

Slaking, while obviously hard-countered by any protect-style move has monster stats that will body the unprepared.

Lenora, I personally don't think is too bad but she does have two evolved Pokmon at that point and your starter might very well not have evolved yet.

Larry gets walled hard by rock + steel types which are also easy to come by in SV.
