Ok that clip was actually funny and made me want to watch it.

I was less interested when I thought it was just an adaptation of the comic, but clips have revealed this is entirely it's own thing other than the designs.

That's actually part of the wierd time plot of the movie, all these DC characters became younger when they were sent over.

From other clips it's clear it's affecting the RWBY side too thus Yang being at Beacon but missing her arm.

Actually hmmmm maybe not. I just checked and the episode lengths for V9 have actually been longer than average. It's around 2:45 so far, and the last episode is supposedly between 20-25 not including credits, so this volume will end up being longer than it seems.

Still, I figured this thing was under an hour even before finding out it was gonna be 2 movies, so that's still much beefier than expected!

Well it says Justice League. Im no comic buff, but Ive never heard of a JL iteration with Superboy on the main roster

Finally finished with Bofuri S2, which was a huge step down from the original. It was generally enjoyable and Maple's still a fun character, but there was almost zero creativity to be found. There are a lot more big battle scenes, and none of them were interesting.

Yeah the interactions between characters and guilds were really fun but they focused too much on boss battles. That's not why people watch Bofuri imo. Needs to focus more on the characters and crazy Maple shenanigans.

And I was really annoyed with how rarely she used one of her new big power ups, even when it would be super useful and they spent an entire episode on her getting it. Out of her new power ups the weakest got the most use (though that one was funny).

Finished my full series rewatch of RWBY just in time for the V9 finale tomorrow. About 25 hours, not bad for a week.

Ranking going into it: 7 > 3 > 6 > 8 > 2 > 4 > 1 > 5 (man what a bungle, totally understand why I stopped watching here)

What a chapter of One Piece! Insight into Kuzan's motivations and a possible shared agenda with Blackbeard, which Ive been waiting to see for a while, and the defeat of the Heart pirates with Law and Bepo barely getting away Blackbeard is truly ferocious when he fights offscreen.

And that's a wrap on V9!

I did enjoy the season. After the rollercoaster of emotions, drama, and tragedy that were the last two volumes, this is obviously a more down to earth affair, even with the fantastical setting. Obviously Ruby herself was the highlight of the season, and episode 8 the peak. Overall narrative advancement is all but absent, but it got our girls prime and ready for what's certainly going to be a much more high octane season or 2 in Vacuo.

If I had a real complaint other than the shorter length, it's that I think Weiss really got the shaft here. Maybe they felt two seasons in Atlas meant she was OK to take more of a background position here, but she's Ruby's partner and they barely even talk to eachother this volume. WhiteRose in shambles.

It's going to be either just above or just below 2 on the ranking, haven't decided yet.

Oh and frankly the wildest thing about the finale was the Raven and Summer scene. Don't think I saw her being part of that night coming at ALL.

I literally just said volume 5 was a bust but that scene actually puts a lot of one of it's major plot threads into a LOT more context.

Agreed. Definitely eager to learn more about that.

I have my issues with how some things were prioritized, like Weiss as you mention but even Ruby's scenes and lines felt incomplete.

Based on some CRWBY talk on Twitter, it sounds like Crunchyroll may end up being a more active participant in the series, and considering they've been trying to get their foot in the door on western production for a hot minute I wouldn't be surprised is they end up getting behind it.

In that case, crunchyroll could do a much better job of actually making it easy to find for new viewers. When i made the cr account for this season, it wasn't on the home page at all. I had to deliberately search for rwby to add it.

I think you're better off hoping for a different streaming service running Crunchyroll out of business than for Crunchyroll doing anything to make things easier for viewers

I've never really had an issue with Crunchyroll, Funimation was the one that was always fucky for me. Good riddance to that one.

Yeah the Funi app was absolute trash from start to finish, truly horrific.

Crunchyroll isn't perfect and it's clearly just trying to be Netflix but not doing a great job (at least the app version), but typically it works.

Found a show called Kabukicho Sherlock (after about 5-10 other meh choices). I'm not completely sure about this yet, but the seedy yet colorful atmosphere, the weird as balls Holmes character variants, and the off kilter approach might make this good in a weird way.

And yes, RWBY Volume 9 was good. They have some miles to go (3-4 more volumes left I imagine). 1-2 in Vacuo, 1 elsewhere or setting up some crazy shit, and 1 as a return to Beacon/final show down lets fucking go.

It seems very single chapter of this last volume has to be dragged out of Ichikawa's grasp kicking and screaming.

The anime movie adaptations of To Me, The One Who Loved You and To Every You I've Loved Before were overall good. I think the first is slightly weaker than the second, but that might be because of my watch order. I watched them in the happy ending order, doing the reverse is supposed to be sad. I ugly cried a little bit at the end.

Similar vibe as Stein's Gate, but a lot softer and without much violence and no real characters except for the lovers. The character design of the MC was a little bit off-putting, but luckily he's not a child for long.

A few scenes were reused more than I was interested in, but I can see why the recontextualization was worthwhile.

Alright it took me like four days of starting and stopping but I finally got through Oshi no Ko's premiere.

It was pretty awesome. I'm glad I watched it.

Finished part 1 of the JLxRWBY movie.

It's definitely a Cartoon Network/WB thing first and a RWBY thing a distant second, both narratively and visually (seriously it's amazing how much you appreciate what CRWBY pulls off with how stiff a lot of this was), but I enjoyed it well enough and am interested in seing just what the actual conclusion of this ting is.

Also the first time I've ever cared about Jessica Cruz.

I think I've only seen Cruz in JL vs Fatal Five, and she was kinda meh. Completely outshone by Miss Martian, though that's probably because she got to play off Batman

It pop-up parade, the standard figs are always cheap. It's typically good quality cheap, but it's still cheap.

And unlike Nendoroid they don't have a bunch of parts you can swap out.

If I wanted the proportional figure I'd go with the good shit and preorder the Figma.

I kept seeing the Yang one at a nearby anime store and thinking, "I"m not getting it unless the other three are also available." Kinda how I wavered back and forth on some SpyxFamily stuff when I saw Loid, Yor, and Anya all together at the same time for about $35 each, which I bought as a set.

I wish we'd get figs of outfits past their first ones.

Especially Blake since her first is easily her worst.

I know there's no chance of getting their early volume 2 outfits which is a real shame.
