UTC everywhere, and your working hours are roughly when the sun is, regardless of the "time".

Permanent DST in the US was briefly enacted by president Richard Nixon in 1974, in response to the 1973 oil crisis. The new permanent DST law was retracted within the year. Year-round daylight saving time was initially supported by 79% of the public, but that support had dropped to 42% after its first winter.

wonder why that was, people definitely hate it now tho, and the only ones who even like DST are those that work graveyard and get paid for the hour they didnt work cuz of the time change

Its funny, it doesnt really matter (especially for a homebody like me) but when I had a long commute, it really would be depressing when I got to work as the sun was coming up and then got home like as it was setting. Again, total homebody here so it shouldnt really have mattered since its not like I was going out much or anything anyway, but it did.

Staying lighter later is so much better. And not having to have the sun in my face blinding me on my way to work is so nice.

Darker mornings, lighter evenings.

Change the school start times to reflect that, so kids aren't walking to school and bus stops in the dark.

Problem solved.

School just starts too damn early, and nobody seems to know why.

I've been told it's to get the kids out and on their way to school before parents have to leave for work, and with a majority of people traditionally working the 9-5, getting kids on a bus between 7-8am became the norm.

The next idea is to then have as many kids in after school programs, whether it be athletics, clubs, or other in-school activities that shorten the time between school ending, the children getting home, and parents getting him from work.

Of course, the more kids in after school programs, the more money the school gets, so there's (as usual) ulterior motives.
