The bar I go to comedy shows at twice a week has no default option lower than 18%.

Fuck outta here with that crap. I didn't come with 8 people. 10 percent used to be fine. Yes I mad.

It's also simple. Move the decimal, multiply by 2.

So, you protest the underpayment of employees, by contributing to their underpayment?
Edit: Or, do you mean you are boycotting by not eating out?

I tip based on a more realistic model. If the service was good, I'll give you a few bucks or something.

However the whole % based model just doesn't work. 15%, yet so many people think they're doing the "right thing" by tipping 20, 25, up to 50%. I eat out enough to know when I'm by myself, you're taking my order, bringing me my drink, bringing me my food, and maybe refilling my cup once.

Doesn't matter if I order some $15 week night special, or if I treat myself and spend $50, the service I get remains the same. Why in the world would I give one person 2.25, and the other 7.50 for doing the same amount of work?

It's just another dated concept everyone is too lazy to get away from.

If the bill is small like (30-40) ill do 25. If its 50 or higher ill do 15, especially if they just do the minimum work.

I never eat out, so not sure exactly how much I'd tip there.

For delivery, I tip $5. Nothing more or less, regardless of how much the order cost.

I just hate the "tip begging" that is widespread these days. I get take out and drive to the restaurant to pick up my food, why would I tip 20%????

I tip for dine-in restaurants, dog grooming, barbers, the people who wash my car, and occasionally delivery people. Oh, and valet but It's been years since I've been somewhere fancy like that.

Fair wage is pretty vague. Whats a fair wage to you? Because a decent waitress or waiter banks $50-100 in tips a night, does this fair wage trump that? Doubtful.
