Thank you. To be fair my wife plays the game not me so I don't really have any skin in the game as I don't play it anyway.

I do hope you won't think of me as as being anti-trans as a result. I'd like to think as a community we've grown past the days of "you're either with me on 100% or against me". The trans subject is far too nuanced for everyone to agree on absolutely everything and it would be a shame to discount anyone just because they disagree on one item.

allyship isn't an absolute state of being. it mostly depends on how people from that community see you. (this is also why it's fucking weird to self-identify as an ally, but that's a separate point)

And people would lose their shit if JK Rowling bought 10% of Sony or whoever. You can't even convince me that the response would be "Ah well. That's capitalism. Anyone can buy in and there's nothing we can do, so a boycott would be pointless." I absolutely am not saying you or anyone defends Saudi Arabia, just that the hyperfocus on HL is leading to lots of inconsistencies and excuses. You make it as plain as "knowingly giving money to awful people who will use it to hurt people and causes you claim to care for", but then there's a millions excuses as to why only Hogwarts Legacy matters. Is JK Rowling even getting 100% of the proceeds? Is that how IP works?
