Yup, took quite a while to get through because of all the annotations, which are necessary for context interpretation, since a lot of things were perceived and understood differently back then. If you can live with that hurdle though, it's still a fascinating story imo.

Divine wasn't added until the 16th century, hundreds of years after Dante passed. Dante called it a "comedy" because poems in the ancient world were classified as High ("Tragedy") or Low ("Comedy"), and it was written in the "low" style "vulgar Italian", and not written in a high-style which would be Latin, at the time.

I was being sarcastic about the comedy part but I was ignorant about the divine part. Thanks.
