I'm a few hours in, just got to Grand Staff so I'm still chilling with my party of three. I like the whole cast so far but you guys, I LOVE the hell out of Jansen. His VA is so wonderful, too. I laughed so much at the scene where he shows up for the trip with prostitutes on his arms.

I also really dig how the game implements skills from mortals and accessories, where combat gives you points towards each skill until you learn it then you keep it. It gets the addiction going with getting more more moar.

Good game, one of the best spell systems in a turn based RPG.

I've been meaning to play it. Have it on 360 and all that as well.

Yes! The Grilgan? Bastard took me four attempts, he hit like a freight train. I finally got it once I moved Seth to the back row. Doesn't help that healing feels like it's pretty weak right now, both item and spell.

I loved the game but can't stand Mack. Yeah he's just a little kid who misses his mom I get it but he has a death wish and causes lots of chaos and nearly kills even the immortal.

Yes but at least Cooke isn't a threat to the life and safety of everyone around her.

Those kids bring down the game slightly. Jensen is great as is most of the cast.

I just finished The Legend of Dragoon. :3

The game has some truly incredible moments, not just including the short stories. The weird ring system took some getting used to, but I still prefer it over fully traditional turn-based systems where you queue up your moves and then watch it unfold.

For the tc, do keep in mind that buffs and debuffs are super important in the late game for getting through tough fights, so don't neglect that part of your arsenal.

I hated this game so much. The story was so bad outside of the prose. The ring system is bad and the crafting is one of the most tedious grinds I've ever seen in a single player game.

Honestly? At this point I don't think it'll ever happen, I get the impression that Mistwalker never wants to bother with ports. I'd love to be wrong though, game deserves to see the modern light of day.

I do like the ring system a lot. Just took me a bit to realize I have to press the trigger to start the outer ring lool. I won't ignore the buffs and debuffs, then. I know in some RPGs they can be ignored and some they can make or break the fight, but it's best to play it safe.

As you get closer to the end the bosses will get so easy that the regular encounters will be harder than the bosses.

Dang. Not that I mind overall, but what about the final boss and any optional bosses?

The one thing that irritated me was the fact that you had so many time limits to escape things. I dont like that. Otherwise, fun game.

There's an optional super dungeon that has one of the ultimate weapons at the top floor and it is significantly harder than the main game story dungeons. If you're looking for a challenge, that's the way to go.

I'll definitely want to check that out. And any other optional stuff. In time, though! I didn't get much done today, been busy, but oh well.

A question, though, hopefully someone sees this. Is there a point in the game where it does a party split and I should keep my out-of-combat party leveled up? I just got Ming and I'm waffling around between her and Jansen atm.

yes there is a point where the entire party gets split up and its my favorite moment in the game
the game makes it pretty easy to catch up in levels and harder to gain levels after you reach the one the game wants you to be at.

eventually though the immortal party members will be superior to the mortal ones.

yea this was a huge curveball for fights like that. it aint no star fox 64 titania where you just shoot slippy over and over to free him lmfao hahaah

yeah like someone said there is a point where theyre split for an extended period. but the level system works well enough that anyone underleveled will get basically a full level per battle until you get to the level the game wants you at. so keep the party balanced, but it's not mortal ( ) if someone falls behind a bit.

i do remember some ice boss being a bitch, but yeah this is pretty much true. you might die once to a boss due to its particular gimmick, but you should have all the tools you need to reshuffle gear/party and take it out

Aight nice, thanks for the help! I did notice when I was leveling up the other two that they caught up fast, which I'm thankful for. I'm typically not a fan of idle members not leveling at all but getting extra exp when you slot them in is the next best thing.

Oh I should bump this I guess, didn't notice how long it's been. I'm at the Dark Cave but trying to farm a bit back at the mansion so Sarah can get more skills. The enemies in the cave hit really hard, too, eesh.

sarah is probably the least developed of the immortals and IIRC she gets the fewest stories in the 1000 year of dreams sections

Phew, finally got through that Black Cave. I had a hard time with it, but at the same time I didn't? The enemies' HP was reasonable and all that but when they revved up, they nuke the party. Those gorilla things can Roar then hit me for ~500, or in fights where I had two sorcerer things, they did party-wide magic spells for ~200. No one was in danger of dying but when Sarah has her party heal for around 150 each, it's just a game of trying to play keep up. I'm so glad she gets back a good chunk of mana when defending.

Going to get Cooke and Ming to 28 with the rest before going to this next city. One gripe I have now is that immortals can't learn mortal skills unless said mortal is in the active party. That was a sad moment when I realized.
