I mean, I have a 3/31 job that starts right after busy season, but it's obviously no busy season. Last year, I was busy, sure, but this year I have gotten a great taste of busy season life.

5 more weeks and you can start to remember what living is again.

Good luck y'all! I know April is probably going to have some stress considering it's the deadline month, but the job will somehow get done!

55 is the minimum here. The fact is, I have to spend about an hour and a half with just driving alone (not to mention the time it takes to get ready in the morning). Then I'm at the office for 12-13 hours a day... it really starts to add up. I feel like I'm behind on what's up with the world due to busy season. Plus, you throw in a little bit of weekend work, and it's like, god damn, we really are just robots for 4 months of the year.

I guess the summer sorta balances it out, but heck, there's a reason why accounting is a dying practice in the US.

A 60 hour work week is insane

I have an accounting job for a hedge funds dude investment. We only have 40 hour workweeks, free lunch every day and I earn 70k at a job that I started seven months ago.

i am glad Im not at a public accounting firm with all those hours

Yeah, it's pretty brutal this time of the year. Glad you got yourself a nice-paying, stable-hours job. We only get one life, and I know I'm not going to think back to this time and be like "man, I sure am glad I worked these hours!" but I'm holding onto the idea that Big4 public accounting leads to even better industry roles.

It's crazy to me, some people leave public accounting to go industry... but then come back. For some, the grind keeps them feeling alive I guess.

This topic reminded me I didnt do my taxes yet. Found out we owe for the first time and stopped there a few weeks ago before filing. Told my wife Id do it this weekend but didnt.

I used to count down the days to the end of tax season. Now, each passing day means less time that I have to get this mountain of work done. Taking on more responsibility sucks.
