Maybe the flood never happened and the Rito evolved due to some other environmental pressure or historical trigger. Maybe some Zora survived the flood somewhere outside of Hyrule and migrated back later. Or maybe some Rito evolved into Zora again after WW.

Honestly the original "zoras just evolved into Rito" lore was so fucking stupid I wouldn't be mad if it were just outright ignored going forward.

Though I do prefer the WW designs to the generic furries in BotW. I mean yes they were functionally just elves with beaks but I liked everything they had going on. NuRito feel like a completely different race anyway.

The thing I hated about the Zora -> Rito pipeline is that it supposedly happened in like 100 years. They coulda at least given it a few centuries. I know it's fantasy evolution, but still.

And yeah, I did prefer the WW Rito to the BotW ones. I also like the OoT and TP Zora more than these ones. They were more fishy and less teletubby-y.

They glow like luminous stones, something we know the Zonai used quite a lot, and may be the source of Zonai Magic. Whether or not Zonai = Twili is something we won't know until, maybe, TotK.

Hopefully they show off the weapons system not having crappy durability in this game. If it does at least add it to hard mode so players can enjoy their game normally.

We are almost 100% getting Durability again. Fans expect a crafting system so you can effectively "bank" weapons and replenish them more easily, but I highly doubt they'd ditch one of the most central game mechanics just because some fans didn't like it.

I think the durability will actually get reworked into a crafting mechanic. The art book suggests you get to attach things to weapons, so perhaps it's just the attachable parts that have durability. Maybe you have to attach things to the Master Sword since it's broken.

That would be more restrictive than having a pool of weapons available and the ability to craft more. We also seem some cool "magic weapons" in the trailers, like the flamethrower and bomb launcher (name pending) that might ignore the durability system and rely on magic instead. Functioning as a cooldown system to let the breakables go further.

One way or another I'm sure the weapon system is getting tweaked to be better, but it won't go away.

So judging from how they're wanting to show off Tears of the Kingdom, the goal for the game is essentially to just expand on Breath of the Wild's idea of freedom. You're given even more tools for experimentation than before and more to explore. They're keeping story and the rest of the game content a secret for now because they don't like pre-release spoilers (Kit, who used to work for Nintendo, said as much).

And I'll be honest, I spent a ton of time on Breath of the Wild just screwing around. So TotK allowing me even more freedom sounds great. I'm curious to see all the different things attaching items to weapons and arrows will do.

I'm not really a fan of ascend. Seems like the main purpose of it existing is to sidestep the need for climbing. None of the botw slate powers had an effect that could only benefit link.

Reverse time thing is potentially interesting need to see what it works on in game. It would be cool if it worked on enemies as well as objects.

I'm guessing there's going to be some kind of throwable rock weapon you can find all over the place and fusing it with red chu jelly is the bomb replacement.

Eh, on the other hand fusing an object to a weapon seems to be the game's way of "repairing" weapons since he did it with a stick about to break and suddenly it was like way more durable than before. So it's kind of a fix to the durability without outright removing it (with the plus of adding something new to experiment with).
