somebody got onto my steam not long ago (even with 2FA on) and refunded Crisis Core for me lol
and they tried to refund Need For Speed Unbound but couldnt

luckily they couldnt really do anything else

I had my Genshin Impact account stolen when the company leaked a bunch of passwords and UIDs. I managed to get it back and nothing happened except the person who took it spent all my primos, all 1700 of them.
I remember having several people trying to log into my steam account during the Team Fortress 2 hat craze because I had a very popular unusual hat that was valuable enough to sell for real money.

Yeah, I'd use the app. They recently made it a bit more user friendly to use too, so it's a good time to switch.
