I currently have zero games on my phone. I look on play store and they all look like microtransaction trash.

I don't think I want to get proper games like Minecraft and stardew because those require a lot of time.

Are there any good game out there that are not overly mtx trash but still fun to play to pass time when I'm waiting to finish work?

Didn't realise they have the old ff games on mobile. Never played the first one. I played ff4 and 6 so it should be kinda familiar.

On android there is a card game (offline single player) called Rogue Adventure
It does have some paid stuff but you can unlock pretty much everything for free
I say pretty much everything because unless you use an adblocker (I think it has to be root) then you still have to wait for the adverts for the extra gold/gems but it's not that ecessary imo

If you like card games look up slay the spire too paid but it's good

Would never have found these what looks like to be hidden gems.

Not sure if they are still available or free anymore, but the adult swim games were always a good way to kill some time. If you are into puzzle/escape room type games, can't go wrong with the Cube Escape games.

and depending on your phone size bloons tower defense 6 is fun
it does cost money to buy like slay the spire and has in game stuff you can spend cash on but the actual hardest mode disables anything you could spend cash on so the game is built around not actually spending real cash outside of buying the game first

It has microtransactions but they're absolutely not needed to play the game and enjoy it. I've had it for apparently 122 days today and only spent money once when I was home sick and binging it.

It's a survival horde 2D game with rogue like weapon pickups and such. Pop in, collect your daily gems, run a daily activity for 6 minutes, or if you have 15 minutes run a level, collect your gems - close game.

I knock out a daily round every day on the toilet at work.

Plants vs Zombies and Brawl Stars are fun phone games. Really Bad Chess. Most phones are income generating ass littered with unskippable ads and in app purchases.

Idle Slayer
It's a weird combo of auto runner and an incremental game like cookie clicker. Then it adds like crafting and boss battles. It still gets updates every month or so. I spent $5 to get rid of ads, but beyond that I've never felt a reason to be tempted by the mtx

Someone else already mentioned it. I played for s few months and then quit. It's fun but there's like 5 different progression systems going on. If you're trying to level them all as far as you can every day it's a bit too time consuming for me. If you're just being casual, it's not s problem though.

The key is to find games that work when offline. Stops the ads. I've downloaded a few that won't run without a connection. Those get deleted immediately. Been playing wordscapes for 2-3 years while on break/lunch at work. Great way to pass the time. If I forget to turn off the wi-fi, it is a nightmare.

I play this as well. My only complaint is that I hate the spec ops. This was a fun little 15 minute time killer. Now I have to sit through these spec ops missions if I want to collect the character cards... which are practically a must.
