Hes not even here yet, and we already feel like hes being slighted by his grandparents on her side. First kid for us.

Shes 7 months along, and she has reached out exactly 1 time about our pregnancy. Not to ask about how shes handling it, but only to say itll be a miracle if he makes it due to her being vaccinated. Hasnt reached out for anything else, offering help with setting up the baby shower etc

We just found out that my wifes addict sister is expecting her FOURTH kid, and their mom is visibly more excited and involved with them already

Sucks knowing that hes going to be looked at differently, for seemingly no reason

What was the family dynamic prior to you guys getting together?

Considering they've only reached out once in 7 months has me assume they don't live close? Could there be some bitterness attached to you guy not living close to them?

The whole vaccination thing also leads me to believe there's a political difference between you and your in-laws, which can cause a rift no matter what the situation is.

As far as the sister, that can go back to what I originally said. If she's local to the in-laws, she's probably the "favorite" for not deserting them.

You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family.

If your in-laws are anti-vax idiots, that's their loss.

Surround yourself with a better family.

Sucks that they're seeming to be more excited about a fourth kid as opposed to your first.

My parent's favor my brother's kids way, way more than mine or my sister's. Then again my brother and his wife aren't the best parents and if it wasn't for my mom and dad they wouldn't get a chance to do anything. They take them to the park, out to eat, on trips, stuff like that. Used to really bother me because it's like my kids are getting the shaft because of someone's else's bad parenting. But it's ultimately better for the kids.

My in-laws have absolutely nothing to do with my kids. See them at Christmas and that's about it. My mother in law puts forth no effort. With my wife's dad I kinda get it, as he had a stroke and never fully recovered.

Try not to let it get to you. Just be the best parents you can be. It's their loss.

You may want them to be in your life, but they aren't required to be in your life.

If they don't even reach out to you to have a relationship it is probably for the best to keep them away tbqh.

I'd say cut them out of your life, but sounds like you don't have to deal with them much as it is already.
