Remake is a better game to play due to technological/game design advances since it initially came out, but the original is much better as an overall experience. Hard to decide as both are great and each have their pros and cons (like Ashley escorting and character being way better in the remake and expanding on some characters but also restricting others). RE4 OG has nostalgia factor though and as mentioned the aesthetic/campy charm pushes it slightly ahead (though I have no issue with the more serious tone in the remake and in some spots its better). I also miss Saddler's involvement with him and Leon snarking at each other on the calls throughout the original which the remake was missing. I dont remember the details of the original well enough to recognize all the changes.
