For the true ending? Beating a jrpg once already takes long enough

Not really, no. It's just like Nier where you get an "ending" more than once but you aren't getting a repeat of the story/content afterwards. You only play through the game once.

isn't that literally what it was tho

like all of the same sidequests respawn and you're playing through the same story content with slightly different dialogue and an eventual pay off when the story finally diverges

Not at all. It starts as a groundhog day bit but after something like 10 minutes its already pretty off the rails.

Super Mario Galaxy makes you collect all 120 stars twice. Get them all with Mario, beat Bowser, then do all the exact same shit but as Luigi this time.

It's been awhile so I don't remember it exactly, but it isn't really like a "new game+" sort of thing.

It is more like the same thing keeps happening, but your characters are fully aware of this loop, and this loop is an actual part of the game.

It is hard to describe without spoiling too much. It is basically like they are time traveling to the past a few times. But again, they are aware of it, so it is not a fresh game or anything.

Well you're more dedicated than I am. I like 100% completing games, but I'm not going to make the exact same trip twice or more to do it. 64 was fine, Sunshine was fine, Odyssey was fine, but Galaxy? Galaxy can eat my ass.

this. You have to do certain story beats repeatedly and it goes by pretty quickly

Could be worse. In order to unlock the final save icon for Binding of Isaac you have to complete every single challenge and unlock every single item. It takes a long time, I haven't even finished it and I have upwards of 6k hours into the game.

Christ.... I didn't know that.... I'm half tempted to just start a lets play channel with thousands of hours of failures just to attempt to get it. It wouldn't be so bad if Epic Fetus was part of the basic item pool, but there are SOOOOO many crap items in the game I find myself rerolling just to get through some of it. Funny enough, I almost always pick up Soy Milk/Almond Milk as it can combo extremely well if you get a damage upgrade.
