I heard this recently and while I don't care at all about wrestling, everything I've seen and heard of Cena makes him sound like the nicest guy possible.

He shilled for China by saying Taiwan isn't a country which killed a lot of his image.

As far as I can tell he only did that for a movie promotion, which means he was likely required to do it. I'd blame executives over him.

Dumb word choice but you know what I mean

I hated that stupid Price is Right remix theme song of his. It's easily the worst thing of any major multiple time world champion.

Back in the day, someone would call him out and his music would hit.
He would get the last word in the challenge and his music would hit again.
His music would hit yet again when he made his entrance to the ring for their match later in the evening.
And his music would hit again when he won the match.

That's four times per episode of Monday Night Raw that we had to hear that stupid theme song.

I dont know him personally, and Im not familiar with his wrestling work, but I do love him as Peacemaker.

Not anymore. Only when he was shoved down fan's throats. It flew in the face of the idea that fan approval affected who got the belt in wrestling

I don't hate John Cena. I don't even dislike him. I do like him. A hell of a lot more than I like most people in the PWB.

Not anymore. When he was getting pushed to the moon, WWE was The John Cena Show. It was way worse than it is now with Roman. That always overshadowed any talent and goodwill he had. When he dropped down on the card and started doing the US Title open challenges, that's when people started coming around again.

I was a Cena fan so the hate for him growing up did enter my sphere of influence until after I stopped watching WWE because of Vince's overall booking finally getting to me. I still like Cena but I didn't get back into WWE at all until well after he went down the card. Nowadays I like his acting stuff, lot more than I do Rocks.

Wrestling wise he was always trash. Outside of that I don't really care.

I always liked John Cena, both in his WWE character and as a real person. What I disliked was Vince's booking of Cena in the main event scene.

Vince gave him main event after main event and even fed him The Undertaker at Wrestlemania and none of it ever got Roman over as a face. He got booed harder than Cena ever did too, to the point where fans even booed The Rock just for helping Roman and raising his hand at the 2015 Rumble.

Roman is only more tolerable in recent years because Vince had the sense to do with Roman what he never did with Cena, and that's turn him heel.

Yep, his title reign has already outlived its welcome. Drew at Clash in the Castle, Sami at Elimination Chamber, and Cody at Wrestlemania were all perfect times to end it on a high note, and now that they didn't pull the trigger on any of those, there's basically no one left who could believably take the titles from Roman. He's holding both world titles and the main event scene hostage, and he might do so for another whole year at this rate.

This so much. Nothing Cena ever did came close to the regular heat face Roman got.

Honestly, one of the best moments in WWE history was Cena returning at the 2008 Rumble, getting a big pop, and the fans going "wait, we're supposed to boo him" and then booing him. It certainly didn't help that the other option to a Cena win was a HHH win and nobody wanted that.

Horrible wrestler, horrible gimmick, horrible actor

TC from mid-2005 to mid-2014 Cena was basically presented as the pro wrestling version of Superman. He'd beat all of his opponents after very simplistic fights, while acting like a boring goody two-shoes the whole time, and people got very tired of it.

The hate is mostly about his on-screen character.

It didn't really though because he was massive with kids, who are primarily the ones buying merch and watching the program.
