Im so damn excited for it. Was one of my favorite games on GBA when I was younger. Hope it holds up. Some other games have done the genre very well over the years

I am, huge AW fanboy. Would have preferred a sequel to Days of Ruins, but the fact we are getting any AW game is a W for me at this point.

Oh lame, according to some reviews, multiplayer battles don't even let you compete against strangers, it's only friend battles and it's limited to 1v1. Still not a dealbreaker, but that is disapointing.

first impressions?

I'm getting it, don't have it.

Beat the first 4 or 5 levels. Its great! Nostalgic and fun.

I always liked this game more than Fire Emblem games because the difficulty is geared around the fact that you will lose some units and thats okay. In FE, there is perma death, but even if there's an option to turn it off, then it becomes too easy because the difficulty is tweaked around there being perma death.

seems like the only letdown is no async or online matchmaking.

Man Blizzard Battle was HARD AS FUCK. I remember eventually the game got super hard but I don't remember it happening this early. It's the map where the first to 12 captured cities wins, and you are so overwhelmed it's ridiculous. I barely scrapped by.

I didnt realize this came out already.

Makes me wish I had a switch. I loved AW when I was young and it was on GameBoy

The animations can be sped up by pressing ZR, there's even a quick attack option where you can click on a unit to immediately travel and attack, which saves a couple seconds.

Either way the game is fun. The models aren't as ugly once i played it vs seeing gameplay on YouTube. The CO models have a lot of expressions and i definitely like how that fleshes them out a bit more.

I just finished that one too. I only managed a C, makes me want to replay it before moving on.

edit: replayed it as andy instead of max and got s on first retry

Game is great. Just as I remember it with some better graphics and a few QOL additions.

Still sucks when you find yourself in a war of attrition sometimes that drags on for ages.

I wish I knew how to beat the level where you have to capture 12 cities before the opponent quicker. Really gets bogged down at the two choke points for me.

There will literally be millions of copies of TotK. Rebootcamp is going to be a limited physical release.

At first glance this appeared to just be a simple remaster/port. The more I dig into it and play it, the more amazed I have been with just how much care and love has gone into this. Much more than just a simple port, this is a massive improvement on the original games. What a treat, I was getting this regardless as a big fan of these games, but I wasnt expecting to fall in love all over again.

I copied this from another user's post;

• AI now respects Fog of War. Biggest change by far and should make the Challenge Campaign much more manageable. So many maps previously relied on exploiting the AI to win because of how blatant the cheating was.
• "Two-Week Test" has been fixed. You now have to win the mission normally instead of just building nothing, because this time the AI will make sure to capture your HQ. Granted this exploit wasn't known at the time of the game's release and the mission isn't all that hard to begin with.
• The AI will now notice if you're capturing their HQ and will attack them over that APC sitting there doing nothing. Otherwise you can still exploit them heavily by building transport units. I believe they also prioritize any units capturing buildings now as well, not just HQ.
• Unlocking units for the other modes is way easier. AW1 specifically required at least three play-throughs of Campaign + Advance Campaign. Now you just unlock COs as the story progresses, or from doing all the missions at least once. And because this is a bundle, you unlock all the "old" COs in AW1 and all the "new" ones in AW2. (Obviously before, you had to unlock the COs twice because they were physically different games).
• Tying into the above, there are no more "secret" missions. All the missions in AW1 that required specific knowledge of what to do to access them are now just done in a linear fashion like any other. This changes the final battle, you can now pick any CO, and also means "Rivals" is just another mission that you can do postgame. AW2 still lets you skip the Neotank missions if you want, but you can go back and get them later on if you want.
• You can hold down ZR to fast-forward. You can also now click on any unit and immediately attack it instead of having to first move the unit over and attack.
• You can rewind the current turn. No limit to how often you can do this, but unlike Fire Emblem, you can't rewind all the way to the beginning. This isn't very useful for the most part, although it can be useful during FoW if want to know where certain enemy units are.

True, but nobody is forcing you to use it. Or do you mean multiplayer? I don't know if it's disabled there or not. That could be an issue, but it's friends only online.
