"Girls and guys can just be friends"

Like in the case of one of my friends, she's cute and we have some common hobbies, but I've never hit on her. I know what I want and need in a relationship and she wouldn't fit that (and I doubt I fit what she wants either). And plenty of people are like that, where they acknowledge that they're better off as friends. She is a good friend though. Otherwise its gonna be a long term cycle of the dude biding his time and trying to fuck whenever he thinks she might change her mind because she cares about him. Typically not a problem if the roles are reversed. I've never heard of a single instance where a girl was actively pursuing a guy for sex that didn't either end in sex OR the guy just pushing her out of his life. --- If it was about babies we'd have universal maternal care.
