I had a recovered memory in therapy earlier this week, started doing emrd again and hadn't thought about it in a very very long time.

When I was 10 or so, my dad had just been released from having neck surgery at the VA. Like literally, this was on the way home from the hospital so he was in a robe, neck brace etc. Obviously my mom is driving.
At a red light, the guy in a car next to us says "nice buddy, let the bitch drive". While still in an anesthetic stupor and mere hours after being sliced open and having hardware grafted to his neck, my dad gets out of the car and rips the side mirror off the guys truck and proceeds to beat the holy fuck out of him with the mirror. Then gets back in the car calm as can be.

So....he killed that guy, right? I hinestly didnt think much of it at the time but this was back before vehicles were all plastic, it was a good sized all metal truck mirror so bare minimum that guy had to have spent some time in the icu.

He definitely was at least unconscious which still isn't good. It's important to understand the mirror I'm talking about was basically a metal club. For example:

Maybe recovered memory isn't the right term. Like it wasn't a shock, the therapist wanted me to focus on the craziest thing I'd seen him do and that immediately came to mind

This memory stuff is crazy. Did you have some sort of mental block up?

I remember putting some up in my childhood from things that effected me in a really negative way (Don't want to say what). But only just recently, around 25 years later, those memories have been coming back slowly for some reason. Things that I have never thought was real, actually was and I had some sort of barrier up, blocking them out of my head.

It usually happens for traumatic memories.

Good guy with a gun woulda shut that shit down.
