The US population is 330 million. So that's actually an impressively low number. We managed to limit a virus with a ~3.0% mortality rate to only ~0.3%

Now add in all the people who have long COVID symptoms

nah i get the point he's making. republicans convinced their base to not take the pandemic seriously, causing an accelerated number of deaths, and democrats didn't do anything to hold them accountable. republicans are evil and democrats are spineless cowards, the same problem that's plagued us forever

I don't know much about politics but I do wish the democrats would hold republicans accountable. It feels like they're constantly being pushed around and so easily too.

Yeah, I agree that isnt A LOT % wise. The country DID stop for a while. Most of the people that died were the most vulnerable who already had chronic diseases/weak immune systems.

Cause I do have intelligence and insight and that would be the correct way to view it. If you look into it, you'll notice a big uptick in banana sales right after the the pandemic started. It's no coincidence.

Which, I don't expect scientists to be super up on banana sales either. So, Im not judging them for not catching this. It's very possible they just haven't had it presented to them yet.

Fact:

Americans in general handled this very badly. People were very anti-mask. Anti-vax. People, conservatives in particular, fought against anything that would protect us from the virus.

I say this as someone who lost his father to it. He was a fucking dumbass. And he died by his own hand. He could have survived if he followed guidelines, but he didn't. He had COPD to begin with, then denied any sort of vaccinations and would rather die than wear a mask.

That's where Americans are. A bunch of fucking goofs. Countries like Japan have it figured out. We most certainly don't.

World War 1 and world War 2 are the two deadliest wars in recent memory. No one disputes this.

Yet covid killed more americans than both of those wars, and in far less time. (2 years compared to 6)

And Republicans kept insisiting it wasn't a big deal, that it was "fake" or "just like the flu".

Seems pretty relevant to me that something repubs said was "no big deal" was deadlier than the two deadliest wars in the last hundred years in a fraction of the time.

It does not have a 3.0% mortality rate

Republicans caused a lot of those COVID deaths but also messed up is the a large percentage of the 1.1 million is a majority of Republican voters.

Speaking of Japan, I think it's the only country on the planet that requires vaccination or a negative covid test before you can enter.

I was in Narita airport a couple months ago, and there was no leaving the airport without that. Americans just don't give a fuck at this point and pretend like nothing ever happened.

Umm the US requires all non-citizens entering the country to have proof of vaccination. This may have changed in the last few weeks.

Good thing citizens are apparently immune to viruses, that'll show all those foreign viruses.
