So about how long is this game. Looks pretty fun so far, I'm enjoying playing a traditional zelda. Have to say though I'm not a fan of the vaseline filter, it's making me paranoid about my eyesight getting blurry as I'm getting older.

You can steal stuff from the shop, don't worry, it's perfectly safe to do so

tbh not sure if that's any different in the remake

I don't know if it's possible in the remake, but the original, I think, had some combination of the Roc's Feather, a cuccoo, and the boomerang that would turn Link into a hovering whirlwind of death.

Might be thinking of the wrong game tho. It's been a while.

You have to do the trade sequence in this or else look up a guide
The color dungoen can be done after dungeon 2, do it and get the red mail since more damage is better than more defense
seashells are optional but give the level 2 sword after 40 of them and a heart piece after 5
speaking of heart pieces when you're giong to dungeon 2, say hello to crazy tracey for her medicine
and the trick to th e crane game is at least in gameboy to have the crane in one corner and the tem moving to the opposite diagonal corner then drop it
did you get all that?

I think it was removed for the remake however you can now keep the boomerang permanently which is overall much better.

Note: unlike any other Zelda game you've played, the boomerang in LA is a reusable rail gun with a nuclear warhead.

great game. my only issue with the remake is the whole map being present at once instead of the old school grid / single screen scrolling makes areas feel less isolated and distinct from one another.

probably the biggest tip is a lot of characters and even some signs tell you things that will happen in the future so listen or read carefully or whatever
and dungeon 2's nightmare key is confusing as heck in the original not sure how the text changes in the remake but pm me if you get stuck

It's not all present at once. It's like LttP where some areas are bigger but they're still broken up by screens.

LttP has screen borders that isolate distinct regions from one another, LA remake does not utilize borders in this way. You can see two distinct and separate environments on screen at once because their squares touch without a screen border.

There's an owl statue in another room that tells you what order to kill them in. might have been an issue if you didn't have the manual to know enemy names.

Got the yoshi doll and the heart piece and 50 rupees. Is this the crane minigame everyone was warning me about that I was supposed to be dreading?

Really liking the game so far, this is just what I needed from a traditional Zelda game. From the satisfaction of getting the sword, your first weapon, to going through the first dungeon and getting the key and map and yes even compass... a 10 year gap between the last traditional Zelda game is just what I needed to have this experience feel fresh and fun again.

Ok I love it. Game is fun as hell and even my minor gripes barely register when I'm having fun exploring the world. I might take that back when I try to go back and find all these seashells that are clearly important but for now it's a blast.

And does this game predate ocarina of time because I want to know if it did music and ocarinas first

Everyone will call you a theif.

But, you'll want to walk behind the shopkeeper and while his back is turned you walk out. It's pretty difficult to do. If you do manage to pull it off, don't go back into the shop.

Yes it predates OOT

The reward for the seashells isn't that important don't feel stressed out if you can't find it.

The reward is Level 2 Sword

You don't have to do that. You can just keep walking in circles around him until he gets dizzy and faints.

Don't actually do this though. Just look up on YouTube what happens if you do.

I thought it was disappointing. It runs terribly, the smudging around the screen looks bad. It's barebones and short. The graphics are a huge downgrade from A Link Between Worlds. I wish they'd gone for a hand illustrated look like the new Monster Boy games but have it be closer to the original concept art.

Ok I've just spent the entire weekend binge playing this game. Don't want to finish it so fast but it's just so fun, going through dungeons, getting items, being able to explore the map which thankfully isn't that big.

It feels good to be able to solve some of the puzzles when the game barely gives any hints, and the hints they do give are either super cryptic or too obvious that I already knew.

I did have to look up how to beat the slime boss, bit of BS I know I was slashing and dashing into him but the game didn't register it.

Got the hookshot! One of my favorite Zelda items, it's almost always the last traversal item you need to be able to fully explore the world map without going "hmm am I missing an item for this part yet". I just enjoy everything about it it's like the batman grappling gun. Zipping all around the map is immensely satisfying.

So Finished the trade quest... ohh so the trade quest is important to get the boomerang? I mean... it's been pretty damn useful so far so I guess it was worth the 300 rupees. Don't need to use my arrows or hookshot for some enemies can just use the boomerang.

One thing I'm not a fan of though is that dungeon maker explorer minigame, Dampe's dungeon maker. I've definitely never been a fan of anything resembling that mechanic, like rpg maker or mario maker or any kind of creation and building whatsoever. Thankfully it's optional but I would really like to get that 3rd bottle since the fairies are great for tanking bosses while trying to figure out how to defeat them.

Just beat the game! That was a trip. So when I entered the wind fish egg, I had no idea how to get through that puzzle. Was gonna google it when I remembered I screencaptured that book in the library, I remember it was a book that I couldn't read for most of the game. Turns out that's what the magnifying lens trade quest was for, not the boomerang, it was for literally beating the game! Damn imagine being someone who's not into doing sidequests and just tried blazing through the game, only to be indefinitely stuck inside the egg. The trade quest should actually be considered a main quest.

Overall, I loved this game. Even though it can get really obtuse trying to figure out where to go next, it didn't bother me when the world was small enough and vibrant enough to explore. Plus I already have the rpg habit of talking to everyone multiple times so that helped to piece things together. Obviously if the game world were as large and empty as twilight princess or skywind sword's sky world, I would have loathed it. But a nice compact game like this was just right.
