For a St Judes fundraiser Challenge.
I'm thinking 200 in a half hour for 15 hours with rest in-between.
Need some advice on nutrition and maybe pre day prep for this.
I'll try and get tons of rest and I probably won't do any push exercises for a few days before so I'm fresh. Any other ideas? Also posted on fitness board.

I did 1000 once and my arms were pretty dead next day, can't even imagine doing 3000.

My shoulder hurts thinking about this.

I'd imagine you will have to work up to it over a long period of time to not get some kind of injury.

You're going to injure yourself. I was in the Army and I've done a lot of push-ups. Just doing 100 a day will make you very sore.

I can do 540 in an hour with a 12lb weighted vest on

That seems like something you need to work up to slowly. If the most you've done in one day is 540, I don't think jumping straight to 3000 is a good idea.

What people don't realize though is the amount of rest between sets. I won't say I can absolutely do it or it won't be a challenge. But I feel like it is possible. If I'm humbled then so be it. I know my limitations

What is the correct range of motion for a push up btw? In high school athletics, I assumed it was "chest hits the ground". A bit later on I heard in the military it was "when your dog tags hit the ground"

Your chest doesn't have to touch the ground. Your elbows just need to bend 90 degrees, your back needs to remain straight, and your feet may be up to 6 inches apart, IIRC.
