She was overstating the effectiveness of the vaccine by talking like it was ironclad, but it still offered very robust protection that limited the og virus's ability to infect people. It was delta that really caused that feature to plummet and dated what she said, which is why it was imperative to get as many people as possible vaccinated and limit spread. That did not happen.

Her stance was overly optimistic and exaggerated, but the idea behind it wasn't wrong, even if her statement about not able to be spread was incorrect.

If everyone actually got vaccinated in a timely fashion we'd probably have stopped the virus. The vaccine does make it less likely to spread and less likely to contract. Combine the two and apply it to everyone and it would likely not be able to spread fast enough to survive. Unfortunately 40% of the country are brainless fuckheads who refused the vaccine and fucked everyone over.

Maybe if it was as good as the flu vaccine usually is. But you know what didn't help? The fact it took a years to even get above 60% vaccinated for the whole country.

Flu vaccine efficacy can dip south of 50% on a bad year. It is far from ironclad. The COVID vaccine have been much better, but like you said, took forever to even get a majority of people to get a jab

At the time even pro vaccine people would call that BS. The science was publicly available. People ignored it and instead used the vaccine as a theme for their everlasting battle with "the other side", and yes that includes idiots like maddow.
