Some guy behind me had to brake hard and swerve into the median because I refused to beat a red light. Then he honked at me as if I caused all this to happen.

After that I started raging once I got out of my car in the parking lot because how dare you honk at me for doing the right thing.

But should I, though? Maybe I was wrong to not have paid attention that someone behind me was expecting to me to beat the light and that I almost caused an accident by being too diligent about following the rules.

I am definitely going to be arrested for disorderly conduct at some point in my life.

It's how you feel, but you shouldn't engage.

I made sure everyone in the vicinity wondered what the fuck this lunatic is doing screaming at nothing.

Lots of wisdom in that comment.

Can't control your initial thoughts... but you can control your 2nd thought and how you react to the 1st.

if the story is as you claim and you didn't like, slam on the breaks as an act of spite, the other driver is the one that almost caused an accident.

Nope, just didn't think I had the justification for beating the light when it was turning red before I actually made it to the line. I didn't even know anyone was behind me as I approached the light, which is probably why I got so frustrated at myself (not being observant of my surroundings while driving). I only figured out something had gone wrong when this red SUV rolled up next to me on the grass.

Also part of the reason I may have flipped out is I did something very similar not too long ago myself and that was totally my fault. I was too caught up looking at an area I had never been to before and didn't realize the line of cars in the turn lane was longer than I had guessed, causing me to roll up on the car in front of me much faster than I should have and having to brake hard and swerve into the median.

you parked and worked it out instead of driving all pissed off. good!

Well to be fair I parked because I had reached my destination. I was turning into the parking lot anyway.

But still d("d)

Could of led to something worse had you and the other guy just randomly stopped at that light and got out of the car. Some people do that and the crazy things can happen leading to both parties engaging in unpredictable behavior.

You did the right thing because you effectively took yourself out of a potential road rage, even if you had arrived at your location. Believe me when I say people die over miniscule/petty things...

It's fine to feel anger and frustration, but don't act it out. You never know if the other person has a gun or not.

Also it already happened, so raging about it does nothing at all.
