I never answer a phone call from a number I dont recognize, I just check to see if they leave a message to then know if I should call back.

Except just now I got a phone call from a nearby area code. I dunno why but I answered right away like it was a reflex and said hello twice, but I heard nothing back except an odd beep noise and then a couple seconds later the call ended. I again did something I normally would never do, I called back the unknown number, but I guess the call didnt go through.

So Im a bit paranoid right now thinking what if my voice is gonna get used in those A.I. programs for scammers to trick a relative of mine or something.

I feel like this is almost the equivalent of those Tik Tok/Twitter vids of boomers being irrationally paranoid about parking lots. If you see a bottle of water in front of your car or a yarn string tied to your door handle: RUN!

I wouldn't worry about that tbh. A ton of audio is needed to reconstruct someone's voice using AI. In order for it to be even halfway convincing you'd probably need to answer hundreds of those calls while having lengthy conversations during each.

Eh, you just need enough to be able to trick people, if were talking about phone scams and similar. It doesnt have to be perfect. Hell, people have been falling for scams since forever, and thats without the new technology. I wonder how bad its going to get in 10 years when its much more refined and paired with deep fake visuals and whatever else is out.

I heard silent calls like that are to check if the number is active.

Spam calls and texts are your future.

That may explain the two spam calls this morning, one before 8:30 and another right around 9. F*** I made things worse.
