1- Tiny text. You have a whole text box, and barely a quarter of it is used. You also chose a font and kerning style that hardly works and is difficult for vision-impaired people to read. Looking at you, SE games. 2- Characters just talking at eachother. Cutscenes should be saved for important moments. We arent watching a movie. When you have characters just standing there, talking about boring things like what to do next, or just explaining crap we already know, it shouldnt exist. Modern Sonic does this too much. Most of the cutscenes ij Frontiers are just Sonic standing and talking to characters. This is a franchise based on high speed platforming (well..). Why is Sonic just standing there talking about how _______ something is? -Too much dialogue. Get to the point. If you say you wanna world-build, build a better, more coherent world. I want to see it, not to hear you talk about it for 5 minutes. Looking at Fallout, Elder Scrolls, most western rogs. Elden Ring does this right. Characters only say what they need to say, and it gives you enough to think about. -Crafting. Crafting isnt inherently bad. It is bad when it is clearly a device to push padding though. Ok wanna go to the next part of the game? Gotta craft an upgrade to the thing you just upgraded. Because the game is pretty shallow otherwise, so it is full of invisible roadblocks like this. Crafting to make cool weapons, or for actual games about building, like Minecraft or Terraria, is fine. Crafting to create padding in games like pretty much every modern game with crafting, sucks. -Metroidvanias. We get it, you liked Metroid. We also get it, you cant make good standalone levels, so you fall back on just making a cheeky map with roadblocks. Super Metroid worked because it was one of the first good ones. It also had a cool world and actual platforming with good atmosphere. Your 2d pixel art game doesnt work, because you have no level design, and it is clear that you just made tons of walls that need key items because it was faster than designing real levels. -Cool ideas that arent confident in themselves. This seems to be a lot of Japanese games. Probably due to executive meddling, trying to chase trends, etc. Scarlet Nexus has a very cool idea, and then you play it, and realize it is trying to be every modern anime trope, follow Persona trends, and doesnt even follow its own world rules. The world is ending. Yet people are still acting goofy about boy bands and jewelry. God Eater had this same issue. Created a dark world with cool lore, then dropped it because even though the world is scarce of resources, there are enough to make ultra sexy costumes and unlimited high technology labs. Dont tell me your world is struggling, and then make me feel like it is almost a utopia except when monsters sneak around. --- ORAS secret base: http://imgur.com/V9nAVrd 3DS friend code: 0173-1465-1236 ...
