When you start the game, you pick a boy or a girl. Each goes to a different school. Boy goes to an all male high school. Girl goes to an all female high school. They start out with a unique set of friends.

Later you meet the other school and the stories partially converge but never fully. The story is different, you see events from 2 different points of view.

To see everything, you'd have to play through the game twice

Sounds like a neat idea. Love games that let you play from different perspectives.

Two different animes that briefly converge several times but have different stories.

How different is different? If it's literally two different stories, that'd be cool but I imagine it would be hard to pull off. If it's just slight modifications to the overall story with some events playing out differently, I dislike that because stuff like that never seems to have a firmly established canon.

Trails into Reverie explores this concept kinda and pulls it off exceptionally well.

Yeah but Index is very heavily condensed compared to the light novel from what I've heard, so it's not as cool as it sounds when Index's pacing is ridiculously fast.

By different from 3 portable I meant in the sense that noth paths would be canon. Regardless of which side you pick, the other path happens too. You just aren't seeing it

Doesn't P3 portable basically make you choose which MC exists and the one you don't play as, doesn't even show up?

in all of gaming history, there's like only a few titles that actually does it like resident evil 4 with Ada, or some other games that i can't recall, and usually just a few sections intersect between the perspectives

and two different perspective could mean two games instead of just one and they wouldn't want to put a whole different game in a 'complete' game, back before dlcs were a thing anyway
