i would prefer a Dino Crisis reboot but i guess i wouldn't mind this...

I want it to be a shockingly bad (Even worse than 4) Dead Rising 5 starring a weird redesigned Chuck Greene and a rebuilt Fortune City.

The first one is one of my favorite games of all time, can't believe how badly they butchered the series

I don't think they need to reboot it. It's not like it has an overly complex story that needs to be retooled. But I absolutely would love a sequel that got back to the roots of the series. I want to play as Katey and I want it to take place in a giant museum.

They're going to reboot it from the last reboot therefore it's rebooted back to the original.

To be honest, I think Dead Rising was my biggest video game disappointment ever. The "Not Romero" warning on the box was a thing of beauty.

I hate the cartoony part of it, and unfortunately, that's a massive part of the franchise. The only way it's ever gonna work for me is (you knew it was coming) the classic gritty reboot. I'd love to play the first game's story with a more serious horror-tinged tone.

Imagine DR1 but with DR4 Frank.
-Unable to convince Brad and Jessie to let him work with them.
-Mistakes Jessie for a zombie power armor punches her instead of causing her to sprain her ankle.
-Turns Kent hostile in their first encounter because he keeps taking selfies and yelling about hashtags instead of trying to catch Kent's pose.
-Isabela easily tricks him into going down to the Maintenance Tunnel instead of that unfinished store in the North Plaza.
-Babbles about mini golf instead of trying to get the code at the end when Carlito's dying in his arms.

I agree that the juxtaposition of the wacky tone and gameplay with the hardcore survival elements and dark story elements was kind of jarring but I think it adds to the charm of it. I game that was basically a serious version of Dead Rising would be great but I don't think that's what the series needs. Just reel in some of the more outlandish elements and let you choose how wacky you want the gameplay to be based on what weapons and costumes you choose to use. But the weird ass story stuff should definitely stay.

so there was already a reboot?

It wont be good unless its Japanese developed. 1 was the best, 2 was decent because the original team was still involved (though they werent the primary developer) and 3 and 4 were fully outsourced and thus had none of the unique feel that 1 and 2 did

Being Japanese developed definitely lent the first one a unique weird quality but the latter ones didn't falter just because they were developed in America.
