It's not "simping for thieves" to believe that you shouldn't assault someone for shoplifting. Call the police, or let security detain them, sure. But those women were hitting her in the face multiple times.

From what i have seen, in some countries they publicly beat shoplifters or do a lot worse and it seems to be socially acceptable.

Especially in south america.

Not justifying it, just pointing out different places in the world have different standards on what's considered acceptable punishment for theft. To most Americans this looks brutal and unjust, but might be standard operating procedure for that location.
