Do... do you not realize I replied to a post by a guy named "Vampire_Chicken" using a fake quote by a guy that has the KFC Colonel's first name and the famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Hellsing's last name? It's a joke about a KFC vampire hunter being the CEO of fandom and closing the politics board because a vampire chicken was frequenting the board but pretending that it had nothing to do with it.

Well, not really, however because of the state of current political affairs in the US (which was the crux of discussions, however it did branch into international stuff as well) sarcasm and satire becomes increasingly harder to detect from what one political party, its voters, and the trolls who would frequent there would just actually say and believe.

Your joke had layers I didn't initially see and I got too fixated on the name "Harland", I guess, and didn't even think about Van Helsing or the poster you were addressing.

I think you have the wrong impression, which to be fair a lot of posters from 261 do kind of help sell that image. The board was flooded with right-wing trolls and shitposters, and over the years the actual conservatives who wanted to engage in legitimate discussion and didn't just come to post conspiracies & propaganda increasingly left the board. I hope we didn't drive them away and that life/priorities took them away from GFAQs (some of them did swing to liberal/Dem or at least have come to the conclusion they can never support the Republican party ever again, even though they may have been lifelong Republicans until 2016-2020ish), however even until the end there were a few conservative/right-wing voices I felt were at least genuine in their posts, even if I disagreed with their view.

It's true I don't know the people here well enough like I did on 261.

I'm sure y'all have your own NeoVaens, Von, LuigisBro, etc. (and I'm sure there is also crossover between the shitposters).

However, my own personal philosophy is to try and give unfamiliar names 3 topics to conclude my own opinion on their politics/how they conduct themselves. However, there are cases where it takes a single thread of them making like 10+ noticeably troll/shitposts that is a substitute metric at times.

I'm sure you've heard this before, but the issue we had on 261 tended to boil down to-

"I'm conservative."
"Cool. Wanna talk about deregulation, small government or lowering taxes?"
"Nah, I'm the modern conservative."
*proceeds to get banned for racism/transphobia/anti-vaxx propaganda/other stuff that violates the TOS*
"My conservative values are being censored!"

I'm interested to see how things play out here.
I was saying for a while on 261 that we needed a legitimate conservative - one who wasn't a racist asshole and instead actually wanted to demonstrate values like small government. One who could engage in proper discussion. I hope that someone is you.

And to my knowledge, outside the US conservatism doesn't tend to veer anywhere near as hard in that direction as it does with the modern GOP. In Australia we have our problems, but the stuff I hear about in the US makes it sound like a failed state - which is a bit of a trend, really. (See: gun violence, debt ceiling, living wage, voter suppression)
