In the same week that Disney Parks & Resorts boss Josh DAmaro announced the company was abandoning a new $1 billion employee campus in Orlando, the president of Disneyland Resort Ken Potrock hosted an OCForum meeting with local business and political leaders in Anaheim to discuss DisneylandForward, the companys 30-year plan for expansion and innovation in the area.

While DisneylandForward was first introduced in 2021, this week Potrock and other Disney executives revealed new details about the project, including a Disney-sponsored economic study from Cal State Fullerton estimating that, for every $1 billion Disney invests to update and renovate the resort, over 4,000 jobs and $1.1 billion in economic output would be generated during the 4-year construction period. Thereafter, according to the Los Angeles Times, that investment will generate $253 million annually in economic output, $15 million in tax revenue and 2,292 jobs.

Goodbye red state Florida and hello blue state California.

I think the hardest part about moving would be finding enough open land in a good location. The whole reason they had their special district is because they took a completely empty area of Florida and developed it

Actually the plan is for Disney to use existing areas they own to expand as Disney just wants to change zoning rules to help them expand, as explained here

There was a ton of room when they first built Disneyland. But then all of the businesses built up around the park. I wish Disney had secured more of that land back then.

Floridians will know its a bluff. It would cost so much money to move Disney World and its other parks. Its a non starter tbh.

They are going to need to move Disney World regardless, unless they want to turn it entirely into a water park in the next 50-100 years. Better to do it now, slowly, bit by bit, than when it's too late and costs even more to do so.

It's already damage done, especially if it's another Republican that takes office after him. The trust is lost. It's no different than many of our allies knowing they can no longer fully trust the US after the damage done by Trump even with Biden in office.
