took advantage of the third case always being a double kill to set up a scenario where the cast has to live somebody who actually committed a murder, but due to the loopholes, avoided execution but also wasn't eligible to "win".

V3 felt like the third trial was setting that up, by making it obvious that Korekiyo murdered Tenko but still setting up doubt that he killed Angie. It was even established that only the one who killed Angie would be considered the killer for that chapter, and Tenko's killer "wasted their opportunity".

This would have been PERFECT to have somebody else as Angie's murderer, and set up a lot of tension for following chapters since they know Korekiyo is a murderer and will most likely do it again. But nah, they squandered it and had him do both kills so he got executed in chapter 3 anyway.

The closest we actually got to this was in 2, with two different characters: Nagito, who intended to commit murder but was caught by Byakuya before he could; and Fuyuhiko, who was *kind of* responsible for Mahiru's death, since Peko did it so he wouldn't have to. But in neither of these cases were the rest of the cast forced to live alongside somebody that they knew had ACTUALLY killed one of them and got away with it on a technicality.

Just kind of a wasted opportunity that I think could have been fun to explore.

I think the creators thought process when deciding to make him the murderer for both anyway was to "hide it in plain sight" and people would suspect otherwise.

Unfortunately, it really was that obvious.

Angie was the first time my favorite character was executed. I loved Toko and Akane in the first two games; I guess my Toko love is one of the reasons I'm not with the fandom on their hate of Ultra Despair Girls though.

I'm actually one of those weirdos in the series whose favorites tend to be the unpopular choices, at least according to the contest I did here on CE a year or two ago.

In the first game my favorites were Kiyotaka, Sakura, and Yasuhiro
Second game was Gundham, Ibuki, Kazuichi, and Nagito
Third game I really liked Gonta, K1-B0, and Kokichi
