I don't believe in an afterlife, but I don't really agree with that statement either, lots of people believe in an afterlife.

It's apparently incredibly believable. Or else billions of people are lying to themselves.

It's not logical, but the alternative is non existence upon death and that's terrifying, so we all hope against the probability.

Oblivion can be difficult concept.
Everything you know
Even the ability to contemplate the concept of oblivion.
Experience is gone.
I can understand how that's a difficult or unpleasant concept to people.

And you?
Right now, an afterlife seems incredibly unlikely, but we don't even understand what life or consciousness are, so who knows.

Right, I am sort of there. I don't think there is, especially not anything like a typical heaven, but the off chance this IS all a simulation, or something, idk, is at least maybe in the realm of possibility.

My own, personal belief, yes I think it's one of the least believable things that is commonly believed. I don't expect anyone to think the same way, or agree or disagree. That's just where i'm at with it.

As much as I am not going to get it, lately I'm been thinking of reincarnation.

Not the bullshit "you will pay for your past sins in this life AKA karma" stuff.

I mean somehow your soul simply migrates to another body after death.

I hate my existence ending, but immortality makes for a damaged mind eventually.

And I've been crying about it for a while.

Not sure what's wrong with me, but I want another shot after this.

I'm going through it too, friend. Apparently it's incredibly normal to feel this way, but as you get older it's supposed to be a more manageable feeling.

thinking about death/infinite oblivion is incredibly distressing to me, and puts me in a terrible, terrible place. I do my best to avoid thinking about it as much as possible.

It's one of the most widely believed concepts in human history so it's a false statement.

You could say there's no evidence for it, which appears to be true, but that's a different statement.

Funny thing is, infinity (especially as it pertains to eternal life) can be just as daunting a concept once you sit down and really give it some thought.

Afterlife is logical given the following:

-We were born, but what were we before birth?

-Everything in life is based around a conservation theory. Mass, energy, etc. It doesnt make sense wed just cease.

-Specifically heaven existing would be a bit silly. But something being after life isnt that farfetched to me.

Before birth? We were a fetus and before that a zygote and before that a sperm and egg and before that we didn't exist. Not sure why that's a difficult concept for some.

It's specifically our consciousness that would cease to exist. Our bodies of course still exist, just the biological functions that generate energy within us stops. Our consciousness ceasing to exist makes perfect sense in a world with conservation of energy, in fact the idea that our consciousness would persist after our biological functions cease would introduce a problem of introducing energy from nowhere.
