I'm really not feeling Tears of the Kingdom, and I've beaten Link to the Past and Ocarina at least 3 times each. Are there any recent games (even indies) that scratch the Zelda itch? By that I mean, puzzle based dungeons, exploration, focus on key items. No randomized dungeons, roguelikes, Soulslike, or stupid levels of difficulty

Darksiders 1 and 2 (3 went Souls-like so just a heads up.)

The first one was a straight LoZ style game, the second one branches out a bit but is still very similar to what you're looking for.

More I research the more I think we need more games like Zelda

I would love to see a game blend the relationship dynamics of Persona with ARPG combat and Zelda style dungeons

Tunic has difficulty options if you don't want to engage too much in the combat. But it's absolutely the Zelda type game you're looking for.

I have that and I would love it EXCEPT I hate how the sword doesn't slash.

I have Tunic on Xbox but haven't tried it. Will give it a go.
