I work in a call center for a Gardening center and it's our busy season. I hate talking to people. I hate gardening. How did I get here?

Sorry to hear it. Respect for doing what you have to do to pay the bills though.
So what are you doing to get yourself into a better job situation?

Not enough. I need to get my resume back in working order, and figure out what it is I actually do want to do.

I've worked in a call center before. It sucked.

I know it's a small thing, but you at least know what you don't want to do. That can be starting point for figuring out what you do want to do for a living.

Well, my job hates me.
And I've been put on leave. I guess I got a bit mouthy, but it's mostly gaslighting.
Anyway, I think it is their way of pressuring people out so they don't have to pay unemployment.

Working through Covid was a mistake.

Oh damn. I have 60 years experience in customer service. Time to retire on my resume.

Yeah, working in a call center would be my worst nightmare. I hope you can get a position you'd like better.

Ya, I'm not worried.
But it makes me feel bad.

The Depression really comes when 5 or 6 people who you helped out that day told you how helpful and kind you were. The Cognitive dissonance is hard to deal with.

I am really good with people, and they hold that against me.
Because of Covid I have been in a retail setting.
But I come from a Service Industry background.
That has been held against me.

I've heard this as a reason to why some companies suddenly stop letting their people work from home. If they need to lay off X number of people just demand that everyone come in to the office, wait for X number of people to quit over it, then restore WFH privileges.

Get your resume in order and get a desk job with the county. It will still suck, but at least you'll have better pay and benefits

Do yourself a favor and figure it out fast. I completely fucked myself by not having any kind of plan on what I actually want to do. Somehow at some point I got it in my dumbass head that Id be ok just as long as Im working any full time job not realizing how most full time jobs dont pay well enough.

So now Im 35, have almost no real experience. I spent a very long time working at a grocery store because I didnt want to go to college right after high school because we couldnt afford it and because there was nothing else near where I lived that offered that kind of pay (low as it was) and the benefits I had. I did get a free Associates degree out of it at least and Ive moved on, but now Im essentially doing call center work (disguised as a dispatcher position) for an HVAC company (I definitely can relate about dealing with psychotic customers during busy time lol).

I have absolutely no idea how to progress from here. Looking on Indeed is grim. I cant afford school. Even if I could afford school, I still dont even know what I would want to go for. After years of physical and mental abuse from my jobs, all I know is I dont even want to work anymore Ive had enough lol

Same here. I'm hoping to have new job that at least pays better soon.

Thats always the trick. I hope things turn around soon.

Whats causing the scarcity with plants atm? Hard to find anything good like roses or jalapeos at least in my city.
